Saddle Rock

Saddle Rock – All photos in this post were taken on my Fujifilm X-T5 using the 1970s Summer recipe

The hike up Saddle Rock is about 1.3 miles one way with just under 1,000 feet of elevation gain. You can access Saddle Rock from the south off of Circle Street or from the north next to the Wenatchee Racquet & Athletic Club. The south trail is steeper, but shorter. The north trail is slightly longer, but easier on your knees with gentle switchbacks. Most people choose to hike up Saddle Rock from the south trail. This hike is extremely popular amongst the locals in Wenatchee because it is one of the most easily accessible trails in the valley. At the top of Saddle Rock you will have sweeping views of Wenatchee Valley and mountain ranges.

In the spring, the hillside is covered in wildflowers such as balsamroot, desert parsley, and lupine. The best time to see wildflowers at Saddle Rock is generally from April to May. Before April, it is too cold for the wildflowers to bloom. After May, temperatures in Wenatchee Valley increase so much that grassy green hills turn brown and wildflowers wilt away in the heat.

Note for the reader: I share these locations so that others can see beautiful places and enjoy nature as much as I do. Please be respectful of the outdoors and what condition it is in when you visit. Don’t go off trail, leave no trace, and pack out what you came in with.
